The Williamson Fund
Williamson Fund refers to of all fund raising efforts conducted by Williamson in the course of its fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). Alumni, friends and corporations are contacted each year via direct mail, telephone and the internet for gifts. In most cases these gifts are given unrestricted (to be used where needed most) and are expended in the current fiscal year. Proceeds from the Williamson Fund provide 35% of the college’s operating budget each year.
Williamson is blessed with an endowment that covers about 65% of what it costs to operate each year. The gap is bridged with annual support from alumni, friends and corporations. A large portion of the annual budget is comprised of projected contributions. Current expenses do not include those needed for capital improvements or non-budgeted maintenance.
Yes, you may. While unrestricted gifts are always needed, many donors choose to designate a gift to a specific shop or other area of the college.
Yes. Your gift is fully deductible. Following receipt of your gift, you will receive an acknowledgement verifying your gift has been designated to the proper account. This receipt is essential for your tax records.
The Matching Gift Program is a way that employers of alumni and friends can make meaningful contributions to Williamson. Donors can find out if their employer hosts a program buy contacting their HR department, or the Office of Institutional Advancement at Williamson. When a gift is sent to Williamson, the donor must contact their company for the form to register a matching gift. The donor then completes a matching gift form, forwards it to Williamson for verification, and the company disperses a gift that matches or even doubles the original gift.
Williamson accepts MasterCard, Visa, and American Express to pay for gifts. If you wish, you can enter your credit card number on the giving envelope you receive in the mail. Or, you can take advantage of our on-line option. This is far more efficient and puts your money to work for Williamson faster.
In today’s world of high volume telemarketing, a phone call may seem like a great nuisance to most people. However, at Williamson we take every precaution to protect the privacy and well being of our alumni and friends when we call. In every case, a pre-call letter or card is mailed, to ensure our phone call is expected. The Phonathon remains our most cost effective means of raising annual gifts. For some graduates these phone calls are their only contacts with the college and they allow us the opportunity to present a direct request for support.
