Position Purpose
The Vice President of Plans and Operations reports to the Provost and directs all non-academic operations of the College. This position oversees and coordinates all campus facilities including planning, construction liaison, maintenance, transportation; safety; security; food services; mail room operations; archivist; project planning and execution; and campus event planning, coordination, and execution. This position requires a strong mission orientation and excellent written and oral communication skills. The ability to relate well to staff and students is essential.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure safe operations and processes throughout campus, as well as, on campus projects. Develop and implement policies and procedures for campus safety. Coordinate and perform accident investigations.
- Directly manages the College’s operational and facilities budgets in accordance with College policies.
- Oversee the efficient operation of the maintenance work order system.
- Ensure fire protection facilities are operational and tested as required.
- Function as the Owner’s Representative on all construction projects.
- Oversee the campus Facilities Use Program.
- Supervise the Security staff and coordinate all activities of campus security including keys and card access. Develop and implement policies and procedures for campus security.
- Oversee campus emergency planning and training exercises. Coordinate closely with local authorities. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe campus.
- Oversee operations of mailroom.
- Coordinate special events including student and staff responsibilities and outside vendors.
- Liaison with Building and Grounds (Board); ARCAC.
- Supervise the Director of Food Services.
- Supervise the Archivist.
Qualifications (Skills and Abilities Required)
Requires a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred, with experience in operations management, logistics, or planning. Excellent Microsoft Office skills, as well as, familiarity with other database system applications. Specific experience with School Dude work order management is desirable. Experience with construction and/or facility maintenance trades, project management and contracting desirable.
Working Conditions
Some physical activity required. No heavy lifting.
Physical Requirements
Ability to navigate campus, climb, and lift.
Supervisory Responsibility
Direct Reports include Director of Facilities; Food Services Director; Security Guards; Archivist.
