Three major components of the Energy Island, a condensing turbine generator, condenser skid, and switch gear, were put in place in Turbine Hall recently with the help of power plant technology students and riggers from Robert Pessagno’s Equipment Transport.
The condensing turbine will provide additional electrical power to the school and provide power plant technology students with important experience.
Trustee Thomas Ott, Energy Island supervisor, said “The primary purpose of this condenser turbine is that it is a great teaching tool for our students. It will help make them well prepared to enter the power market when they graduate. Most power plants use this equipment and they will now be familiar with it.”
