Michael J. Kuhlman, a horticulture junior, received the Sons of the American Revolution’s William J. Yearsley 4W1 Outstanding Citizenship Award during the Founder’s Day celebration on Feb. 7. The award is given to a junior with a GPA higher than 3.25 who has demonstrated the qualities of industry, self-discipline, personal integrity, reliability, and contributions above the call of du Kuhlman grew up in Garnet Valley and graduated from Garnet Valley High School. He worked four years for Kee Landscaping before coming to Williamson. He believes very strongly in giving back to the community through community service and, as an Eagle Scout, helps with Eagle Scout service projects when he can. He is highly inspired by Williamson’s values as well as the Scout oath and law. After graduating, he plans to work for an employer in the horticulture field while running his own company. SAR, an organization of men whose ancestors fought in the American Revolution, seeks to preserve American heritage, promote education of American history, and participate in patriotic events. The award was named in memory of the late William J. Yearsley 4W1, a former SAR president who brought the award to Williamson as an annual event.
