Williamson staff and students honored veterans near and far with special events on Friday and Saturday, November 10th & 11th. In a Friday chapel service, former Vice President of Plan On Saturday, the entire campus participated in a moment of silence to honor veterans both on and off campus. In an effort to emphasize the importance of Veterans’ Day, the School established the tradition calling for two minutes of silence starting at 11:00 a.m. following a national trend to recognize the significance of the armistice ending World War I on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour in 1918. The name Armistice Day was changed to Veterans’ Day in 1954. Dragich felt compelled to institute this as one of his last efforts before resigning from his position at Williamson to recognize the significance of this day and take just a few minutes to reflect on all of the sacrifices made by U.S. Veterans.
