Kevin Hatch, a power plant technology junior, received the Sons of the American Revolution’s William J. Yearsley Award for demonstrating outstanding citizenship during Williamson’s Founder’s Day celebration Febru The award, previously known as the Outstanding Citizenship Award, was renamed in honor of the late William Yearsley 4W1, an SAR member and past president, and the person who brought the SAR award to Williamson as an annual part of Founder’s Day. Hatch is his class treasurer, plays in the Jazz Band, is a member of SkillsUSA, and serves on the Disciplinary Appeals Board and the Residence Life Council. In January, he spent ten days of his Christmas vacation in Mississippi renovating houses in Mississippi damaged by Hurricane Katrina. In his spare time, Kevin coaches basketball for elementary school children with the Middletown Upward League and works in his brother’s plumbing and heating business. In the photo congratulating Hatch (center) are (from left to right): Wayne C. Watson, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; James H. Willis, Vice President of the SAR’s Philadelphia-Continental Chapter; Lanny R. Patten, SAR President; and President Paul A. Reid. SAR is an organization of men who have ancestors who fought in the American Revolution. It’s purpose is to preserve American heritage, promote education of American history, and to participate in patriotic events.
