Williamson Takes Back Homecoming
(10/07) Last Saturday, alumni and parents joined Williamson students in celebrating the School’s first victory against Stevens Institute of Technology in fifteen games – a losing streak dating back to 1999. As a result of the 3 inches of rain that fell since Wednesday, the alumni baseball and soccer games scheduled for Homecoming morning were canceled.  With the forecast calling for clearing shortly after noon, the football game commenced under sunny skies. Nearly 200 Alumni Attend Reunion
(10/07) On October 27th, nearly 200 Williamson alumni and guests celebrated 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 years as graduates of the nation’s finest trade school. A heartwarming reception was followed by dinner, dancing and lots of reminiscing among members of these nine classes. All classes involved had a great turnout filling two to three banquet tables each with classmates and their guests. The Classes of 9W2, 8W9 and 8W2 had the largest turnouts with close to thirty guests representing each class. (more...

Doubling Your Dollars With Matching Gifts
(10/07) Did you know that your gift to Williamson can be doubled or even tripled through a matching gift from your employer? Many companies offer programs in which they match the donations of employees and even spouses to non-profit organizations and schools like Williamson. In short, your gift of $100 is worth $200 with your employer’s match! Last year, more than 100 gifts to Williamson were matched for a total nearing $50,000. (more...

Wing Nights in Full Swing for 2007-08
(10/07) Since it began in 1998, Wing Night, the weekly event at Williamson has become the “hottest” event on campus. Each Thursday an average of 200 students, staff, alumni, friends and family join together for buffalo wings, cheese steaks and fun.  Each week a popular sporting event is displayed on the projection television screen. Williamson Participates in Exclusive Holiday Event at Granite Run Mall
(10/07) On November 18, 2007, The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades will be participating in an Evening of Giving at the Granite Run Mall located on Routes 1 and 352. In Memoriam – Glenn E. Stevick 4W0
(10/07) This October, The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades suffered a tragic loss when Glenn E. Stevick, Class of 1940 passed away. The loss of Mr. Stevick is a great one to the School as his history with Williamson dates back more than seven decades.

Stevick’s relationship with Williamson started in 1937 as a student in the newly established Painting and Decorating Program.  It blossomed into a 70-year marathon of learning, teaching and mentoring during which Mr. Stevick touched the lives of students, faculty and staff throughout the Williamson community. Williamson Recognized By Newtown Township Police Department
(10/07) Williamson received an award of appreciation from the Newtown Township Police Department for the construction by the carpentry students of the Class of 0W7 of a complete agility course used in the training of K-9 dogs. Officer Len Poggi presented the award to Ken Nelson, carpentry instructor, on behalf of the school during a morning chapel service. Last spring, the students built the course for the training of police dogs throughout the Delaware Valley and helped set the course up. The award is a glass eagle mounted on a wooden base with words of thanks on a metal plate. Additionally, the Police Department placed a plaque at the course recognizing Williamson.

Friends of Lou Schisler 7W9 Donate $20,200 to Williamson
(10/07) The Friends of Lou Schisler donated $20,200 to help a construction technology-carpentry student recently, the proceeds from their fifth Top of the World fund-raising fishing tournament held over the summer. Schisler’s fellow workers at Rouse Chamberlain Homes started the tournament five years ago after his death to raise money for the education of his three children. With the education of his children now complete, the tournament organizers decided to donate their proceeds to Williamson. Schisler was a project manager and director of construction.

Corvette Association Donates $2,000 To Williamson
(10/07) The students have a new projector in the dining room thanks to the County Corvette Association, of Media. The Corvette Association donated $2,000 for the purchase of the projector to be used on Thursday evening Wing Nights. Pictured in front of the school are (from left to right): Tim Burbage, food service director; Michael Ciocco, the Corvette Association’s president; Board Chairman Wayne Watson 4W8; Ed Hatchigian 6W0, the Corvette Association’s vice president; John Kulp, the Corvette Association’s treasurer; and Al Berman, a Corvette Association member.

ConocoPhillips Presents Machinist Students With Handbooks
(10/07) Representatives of ConocoPhillips visited Williamson’s Machine Shop recently to give each junior a copy of “Machinery’s Handbook” and a pocket companion book, along with a bookbag. The large energy company, located in Trainer, Pa., has employed many Williamson graduates over the years and has been donating the books for several years.
