Doubling Your Dollars With Matching Gifts

Did you know that your gift to Williamson can be doubled or even tripled through a matching gift from your employer? Many companies offer programs in which they match the donations of employees and even spouses to non-profit organizations and schools like Williamson. In short, your gift of $100 is worth $200 with your employer’s match! Last year, more than 100 gifts to Williamson were matched for a total nearing $50,000.

Getting your donation matched is simple. First, the employee must contact his or her personnel office to obtain a matching gift form. This form must be filled out by the donor and forwarded to Williamson with the contribution. The School, then, verifies the donation with the company which, in turn, forwards the match to Williamson.

You can find out if your (or your spouse’s) company matches gifts through Williamson’s new Matching Gift Finder. This month, the School debuts this new interactive web feature which can be found in the “Ways to Give” section of www.williamson.edu. The service provides instant, up-to-date information on nearly 14,000 companies and subsidiaries that match gifts to non-profit organizations.

Donors can simply key in their employer name. Instantly, they are told if their gift can be matched to your organization. If they are match eligible, their company's match policy information will be listed, including minimum/maximum gift eligible, gift ratio, procedure for getting the gift matched and any special comments.
