Freshmen quarterbacks Dale Blees and Brendan Gutierrez each threw a TD pass but it was not enough as Williamson came up on the short end of a 27-13 score. Gutierrez TD pass went to junior WR Jimmy Jordan while Blees found Tom Moore for a 10 yard strike. The Mechanics trailed 14-6 at half and hung tough until a 73 yard TD run followed by a 76 yard TD run late in the 3rd quarter put them behind 27-6. The offense responded immediately with a 10 play, 85 yard drive to pull to within 14 but it was a close as they would get. Defensively, the Mechanics were lead Nick Jackson and Shane Coyle who each had 8 tackles. Pat Doyle, Rick DiPietro and Greg Speaker all had interceptions and Preston Walker added 4 tackles, a fumble recovery, a sack and a hurry in his 1st collegiate game. [close] |

Big plays killed the Mechanics as they gave up a 78 yard pass play as well as a 53 yard TD strike in falling to Widener for the 2nd straight year. After giving up all 21 points in the 1st half, the Williamson defense settled down and pitched a shutout the rest of the way but the offense could only muster one TD drive as Williamson fell to 0-2 on the year. Offensively, Williamson was lead on the ground by Kevin Fisher with 33 yards while freshman Sean Kidd added 19 yards and the team’s lone TD. Freshmen QBs Dale Blees and Brendan Gutierrez passed for 103 and 56 yards respectively. Lamik Inge lead the team with 5 receptions for 77 yards.
On defense, senior Brian Lake had 11 tackles as well as a sack, a forced fumble and a hurry. Joe Link had a big game with 7 tackles, including 3 for loss, and was in on 2 sacks. Williamson took the opening kick-off and went right down the field on an 8 play, 54 yard TD drive capped off by a 15 yard run by Curtis Schofield but it was all Stevens from there on out as big plays once again doomed the Williamson defense. Stevens used TD runs of 56, 63 and 34 in the 1st half and a 92 yard TD run and a 37 TD yard pass play in the 2nd half to run away from Williamson and drop the Mechanics to 0-4 on the year. Offensively, QB Dale Blees went 14-27 on the day for 186 yards and a TD while WR Mike Cummings had 5 catches for 53 yards while fellow WR Lee Schofield had 3 catches for 66 yards. Kick returner Clinton Harris had a big day as he averaged 30 yards per return on 5 returns. Jimmy Jordan and Mike Baselice had the other 2 TDs for Williamson. [close] |

A swarming Widener defense held Williamson to just 100 yards of total offense on the day and the Pride used a big 3rd quarter to defeat the Mechanics for the 2nd time this season. Pat Doyle’s 59 yard interception return for a TD was the team’s lone score until the 10 minute mark of the 4th quarter when QB Brendan Gutierrez hit WR Jimmy Jordan with a 9 yard TD pass. Offensively, Widener ran 70 plays to just 40 for Williamson and the Pride maintained a 2-1 edge in time of possession. Defensively, aside from Doyle’s heroics, defensive end Preston Walker had a monster game as he had 8 tackles, including 1 for loss, 3.5 sacks, 2 hurries, 1 pass knocked down and a blocked kick. In addition to his interception, Doyle had 6 tackles, and 2 pass deflections. With the loss, Williamson falls to 0-5 on the year. [close] |

Curtis Schofield led Williamson with 98 yards rushing while former Upper Darby QB Dale Blees added 36 yards. Cardinal Dougherty grad Sean Kidd chipped in with 32 yards for the Mechanics who fell to 0-6 and 0-1 on the year. [close] |

Big plays once again doomed Williamson as they let up touchdown runs of 64 and 39 yards as well as a pair of punt returns for touchdown in falling to the Trojans at O’Hara Field. The Mechanics hung tough early on and allowed just the 39 yard TD run on the final play of the 1st quarter. While the offense could not get anything going, the defense hung tough until a 64 yard TD run midway through the 2nd quarter gave them a 14-0 halftime lead. The Trojans then broke it wide open in a 5 minute stretch in the 3rd quarter where they scored on back-to back punt returns for touchdowns and then used an interception return of 44 yards on the next Williamson series to set up a 5 yard TD run to build their lead to 35-0 lead. Williamson managed just 80 yards of total offense and a mere 6 first downs while going 3 of 18 on 3rd down conversions in falling to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the Seaboard Conference. [close] |
